2011 Hampton: Swissvale
Architecturally, there’s little to dislike about this house, if anything. It’s likely that you’ve already been swooned by that brick exterior, the French doors everywhere, the stained glass window at the top of that original 1920s staircase…see? Permanent heart-eyes. If you’re thinking this might be your dream dwelling, it probably is. We’ll warn you, though: If your design preferences tend to sway towards neutral, you’re going to have a lot of painting to do.
At large, 2011 Hampton Street was built for the bold. Its features aren’t subtle — consider the living area’s wainscoting, the dark molding and trim throughout, the dining room’s tin ceiling — but they’re also not overbearing. Actually, for a place nearly 100 years old, this one has managed to maintain a bright demeanor. We’d guess that its recent updates, consistent flow of sunshine, and ultimate kid-friendly backyard are primary contributors.
